The Dawn of New Beginnings

SYNOPSIS: Most of our perceived problems arise not from the world, but from a false sense of self — of who we think we are. It has been said, we see the world not as it is but as we are.

My lesson title is The Dawn of New Beginnings. It truly is the dawn of new beginnings for each of us. I’ve come to know that life is a series of endings and new beginnings.

This Sunday I will share some transformational practices that will support who we have come here to be. Most of our perceived problems arise not from the world, but from a false sense of self — of who we think we are.  It has been said, we see the world not as it is but as we are.  Through what lens of perception am I seeing my world?

After Easter, comes new life.  I recently saw this poem from the Iona Community’s publishing house website.  It is called Beyond Easter by Ruth Burgess:

Beyond Easter
   we go singing
Having been grabbed
   by resurrection
We are full of tears and laughter.

The way ahead is unknown
It will always be like that.
But having danced in the light
we will look for glory everywhere.

My favorite part of this poem is the last four lines.  The way ahead is unknown, and we can trust that this is so, because we have experienced the great joy of renewal that brings new beginnings causing us to look for glory everywhere!

We have special guest musicians this Sunday.  The Harrison family will be sharing their musical talents with us. The Harrison Quartet features mom Melody playing piano and singing; dad Michael, playing flugelhorn; eight year old daughter Gracelyn, playing cello and singing; and five year old daughter Annabelle, playing harp.  Accompanying the quartet is Gary Buettner, on bass and music director Gwen, on keyboard.  Our song leaders are Mark Soss and Laura Wineteer.  You won’t want to miss this special program!
This is my second to last Sunday as minister of Unity Spiritual Center of North Idaho as I am retiring April 30th.  Would love to see you this Sunday and/or at my retirement party on the 30th.

Remember look for glory everywhere.  In Unity we say “look for the good and find it!”

Seeing the good in you…

Love Deidre
