A Hidden Wholeness

Synopsis: Beneath all the stories of our past, beneath our joys and sorrows, we have within us an essential nature that is whole and unbroken. Unfortunately for us, this divine presence is often hard to detect. Most authentic spiritual traditions offer methods to discover and set free this divine nature. Although it is known by many names, it is a universal aspect of existence. Reverend Michael Moran invites you to join him this Sunday for an exploration of the ways to experience our True Selves. The reward is one of great peace and courage.

“…if we are willing to walk quietly into the woods and sit silently for an hour or two..., the creature we are waiting for may well emerge..."  - Parker J. Palmer
Presented by: Reverend Michael Moran
With music by: The Harrisons (Michael, Melody, Gracelyn and Annabelle)

Beneath all the stories of our past, beneath our joys and sorrows, we have within us an essential nature that is whole and unbroken. Unfortunately for us, this divine presence is often hard to detect. Consequently, it seems to go unnoticed in our day to day experience. In his book, A HIDDEN WHOLENESS: THE JOURNEY TOWARD AN UNDIVIDED LIFE, Parker J. Palmer says that “The soul is like a wild animal—tough, resilient, savvy, self-sufficient and yet exceedingly shy. If we want to see a wild animal, the last thing we should do is to go crashing through the woods, shouting for the creature to come out. But if we are willing to walk quietly into the woods and sit silently for an hour or two at the base of a tree, the creature we are waiting for may well emerge, and out of the corner of an eye we will catch a glimpse of the precious wildness we seek.” This description is a great metaphor for how we should approach our soul work. It requires patience and a quiet steady style. We should not expect an immediate interaction but be willing to wait patiently until we become in tune with this divine presence.
