Seeing the Sacred in All Things

Synopsis: The Jewish Talmud observes that we do not see things simply as they are. Rather, we are conditioned to seeing things as we are. It’s not that we can’t see the world as God sees it but rather that we lack the mental discipline. This Sunday, Reverend Michael Moran reveals spiritual methods from the East and West that help us open our inner eye. This inner eye is tuned to seeing the sacred in all things. It is the “eye of the soul”.

"… I am the eye by which they see; I am the ear by which they hear."
Islamic Hadith (sacred text)
Presented by: Reverend Michael Moran

The Jewish Talmud observes that we do not see things simply as they are. Rather, we are conditioned to seeing things as we are. It’s not that we can’t see the world as God sees it but rather that we lack the mental discipline. Consequently, we direct our attention on whatever experience we wish. However, this tunnel vision closes us off from seeing the full picture. By applying mindfulness to our experiences, we allow ourselves to see our world with greater sensitivity. In other words, we develop the capacity to see God in every person, place, and thing. Through dedicated practice, a remarkable continuity and intense depth of awareness is revealed. This Sunday, Reverend Michael Moran reveals spiritual methods from the East and West that help us open our inner eye. This inner eye sees only the sacred in all things. It is the “eye of the soul”.
