For the Upward Call
SYNOPSIS: Embracing Conscious Evolution is the key to everything we desire for our lives. Learning to be awake and noticing our unconscious or habitual behaviors is the prerequisite to happiness, loving relationships, prosperity, and finding our holy work.
FEATURED MUSICIAN: Lisa Sherman
TAKEAWAYS: Notice those moments of awe and connection, when things seem to fall into place or reveal a higher truth. Pay attention, invite more of these moments to show up or rather show up to them. Also notice that you have the power over that voice in your head. That voice is not who you are. See what happens when you just say stop. You may have to repeat it a few times but eventually, the voice will still revealing a deeper knowing within the stillness. Experiment with this practice.
I remember the first time I heard Barbara Marx Hubbard speak at a conference in the early 1990s. I was completely entranced by her ideas on the evolution of human consciousness. Listening to her that night, I felt like I was in an altered state of awareness. That feeling lasted for several days, and her work has continued to impact my spiritual journey ever since.
This Sunday, I will start my August series with you at Unity Spiritual Center of North Idaho. My talk title comes from the Bible. It is a reference in Philippians 3:14- For the Upward Call. I’ll be sharing my continuing journey of choosing conscious evolution. Neil Sedaka wrote a song entitle, “Waking up is hard to do.” Yet from ancient times onward, we have been given the knowledge to push through our perceived limits in order to experience a brighter future both as individuals and as part of the community of life on this beautiful planet we call Earth.
I am excited to hear the wonderful music that is such an integral aspect of your community. The featured vocalist is Lisa Sherman. She will be accompanied by Gwen Gathercoal on piano, Jim Turner on guitar, Gary Edwards on bass and Dagan Williamson on drums. It should be great fun.
I look forward to spending this Sunday with you.
In loving faith and service,
