SYNOPSIS: Compassion lies at the heart of all religious, ethical and spiritual traditions, calling us always to treat all others as we wish to be treated ourselves. This is basis of the "Golden Rule". Is achieving this ideal possible for us? What would it look like? Join us Sunday as we go deeper into the Divine principle of compassion.
FEATURED MUSICIAN: Michael Robinson
Sunday we are continuing our exploration into Compassion. Here is what the Charter of Compassion says:
The principle of compassion lies at the heart of all religious, ethical and spiritual traditions, calling us always to treat all others as we wish to be treated ourselves.
Compassion impels us to work tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of our fellow creatures, to dethrone ourselves from the center of our world and put another there, and to honor the inviolable sanctity of every single human being, treating everybody, without exception, with absolute justice, equity and respect.
The above is a good description of Compassion. The title of my lesson this Sunday is “Understanding Compassion” and if we are able to fully comprehend the above definition, I say we’d have a pretty good understanding of Compassion.
Our special guest musician is our friend and singer/songwriter/guitarist Michael Robinson. Joining him on the platform are Gary Buettner, playing bass, Nick Halpin, playing drums along with our fabulous music director, Gwen Gathercoal playing piano and singing. Thank you to each of you!
I encourage you to brave the snow, ice, freezing, raining, windy winter weather and find yourself at home with Unity. May your heart and soul feel warm and supported here.
With a Compassionate heart,
