Reverend James Kress is starting a new series this month focusing on Advent. The word Advent comes from the Latin adventus, meaning “coming” or “arrival.” Advent is not just a countdown to Christmas; it’s a season of spiritual preparation, prayer, and hope.

This Sunday will focus on the story of a woman (Mary) who is being told she will give birth to a child. You are invited to lay aside the many years of traditional Christian telling of this story and, as honestly as you can, insert yourself into the story as it unfolds. You will imagine the other characters present and, using your imagination, consider which character you most identify with. One of Reverend Kress’s spiritual teachers, Dr. Armand Bytton, talks about how faith ‘transforms the absurd to the sublime'.  The hope is that through the story of Mary, you will be inspired by how faith can help you transform aspects of your own story from the absurd to the sublime.

Join Reverend James Kress this Sunday for a message of Peace about the power of turning confusion or “absurdity” into clarity, beauty, and spiritual growth. Whether you are new to exploring spiritual ideas or have walked this path for many years, you are welcome here.

You can join us in person or online.

Our music ensemble features The Unity Choir directed by Julie Croteau. They will be accompanied by LeeAnn Aerlyn-Moore on piano, Jim Turner on bass, Judith Pinkerton on violin, and R. Christensen on Drums.
