Do you realize that this past week held a solar eclipse, the start of the Chinese New Year, and Ash Wednesday? Together, these potent events symbolize release, renewal, and transformation. A solar eclipse is often seen as a cosmic interruption that invites you to let go of what’s outdated and open to new beginnings. The Chinese New Year also marks a shift from endings to fresh starts—this year moving from the Year of the Snake, with its themes of shedding and letting go, into the Year of the Fire Horse, representing new life, bold energy, and forward movement. And Ash Wednesday begins Lent, the 40‑day period evoking Jesus’ time in the wilderness; a period inviting reflection and spiritual preparation.
This Sunday, you’ll be invited into your own process of shedding and transformation through one of Unity’s most cherished traditions: the Burning Bowl Ritual. This spiritual practice offers you a chance to name the habits, behaviors, choices, or relationships that no longer serve you and release them to the fire. By letting go of these old encumbrances, you create space for what wants to emerge in the year ahead.
Join Reverend James Kress this Sunday for our Burning Bowl Ceremony—a sacred opportunity to release old energy and welcome new possibilities.
Wherever you are on your spiritual path, you are warmly welcomed into this moment of reflection and renewal.
You can join us in person or online.
Our music ensemble features Gwen Gathercoal on piano and vocals, Paul Gathercoal on guitar and vocals, Jim Turner on bass, and Judith Pinkerton on violin.
