Join us for week four of our series focused on our mission to Live Love and Uplift Lives. Through this series Reverend James Kress is reminding us of who we are, why we exist, and how we can continue to grow together in love and service.

On June 29, Reverend James Kress introduced himself with a lesson that invited you to reflect on the difference between spirituality and religion. You were exposed to the basic etymologies of both words and offered the chance to discover that spirituality is about connection. Whether it refers to connection to yourself, to others, to the universe, or to the transcendent. And religion means to “again connect or bind”. In other words, religion is whatever you do to foster those connections, whether through prayer, meditation, journaling, art, music, sports, nature, books, gathering, cooking, or any other meaningful practice.

Thus Sunday, you’re invited to reflect on how you can Find Love in Religion. Here’s the spoiler: without continual renewal and refreshing of your religious practice, any practice or community you engage with can become hardened, dogmatic, legalistic, ritualistic—and ultimately, irrelevant.

Join Reverend James Kress this Sunday for a message that explores what it means to find love in religion.

You can join us in person or online.

Our music ensemble features Julie Croteau on vocals. She will be accompanied by LeeAnn Aerlyn-Moore on piano and Pamela van Kirk on bass guitar and Dagan Williamson on drums.
